So after exploding my transmission. when i took my skidplate off i noticed oil on the skidplate actually quite a bit. I have come to the conclusion that the oil filter area is leaking.... i checked no double gasket, and i thought maybe faulty oil filter. So i changed my oil again, and yet still a nice little drip coming from my oil filter. My question is, is their a gasket inside of the area where the oil filter goes? or is their something i need to tighten down in their? if so whats the specs and size and what is it lol. my cars a 92 leggy. thanks gang!

(when i searched i read about oil leaks coming from filter area is common but no real answer)

No gasket except the filter gasket. Make sure you lube it with oil before installing and that you tighten it but not super tight. It could easily be your oil pan gasket or cam seals or valve cover seals leaking down and dripping off your filter.

You don't mention the car or year, but if you have a 91ss with the oil cooler then the oring between the block and the cooler could be the problem.

Yeah, if you have an oil cooler, there's another gasket there. If not, it could be the pan, cam seals, or valve cover gaskets.
