Blocking that "U" hose from the intake to PCV

Removed wrong info. Thanks Josh for the correct info on how a PCV system works on these engines.

In a racing engine the crankcase is vacuumed down to a negative pressure. This helps suck the piston down and has less resistance too. These vacume pumps also work with a DRY SUMP oiling system and are $$$$.

also, oil scraper. want to see the gains on one of those... keeps oil from getting aerated, and causing resistance on the crank

Oil scrapers along with a windage tray! I gained 10+ Ponies (Dyno'ed) on a NA 2.2 in my 84 Dodge Shelby, all from 1500 RPM up past 7200 RPM with a peak of 14 HP above 5500 RPM. Those two mods gave the best bang for $5 of steel.

Not only does a scraper keep the oil from frothing, it will remove that 1 or 2 quarts of clinging oil weight from spinning around with the crank. How much did you spend on a lightweight front crank pulley????

ogawd..... coupled w/ a crank pulley..... can only imagine the cheap gains.... then that on a turbo car...... and an oil scraper usually is part of the windage tray

I think you may have a misunderstanding of how the PCV system works or possibly have the PCV system hooked up incorrectly.

Are you talking about this U hose here?

Regarding an oil scraper, I honestly don't know how beneficial it would be. You may be able to install one on one side of the opening here:

Hey Josh, I have not ripped one of these engines down yet. So does every one of these have a windage tray? I bet a scraper could be welded onto a windage tray to fit up in those gaps in the blocks.

I cut my sons Jeep 4.0L's oil pans sump, welded 2.25 inches in, baffled it, windage tray, extended the pickup down. Went from a 6 quart to a 10 quart but we also cut the dipstick tube down so the pan holds 8 quarts, just down deeper in the pan for less windage frothing. This is for a stroker 4.7 L using a 4.2 Jeep crank and 0.060 over pistons. Before this mod he would loose oil pressure at extreme angles while wheeling. It would be a mod I would do on a Suby if I were to Auto-X.

Yes they all have a windage tray to my knowledge.
