Manyu's 93 Liberty project. EJ22 N/A

Got this car two weeks ago as a summer project. Has bad oil leaks from everywhere! Engine was running rough, was starving of fuel. Fuel pump is a dud, cuts out every time I gave it a hit during the drive back home.
Specs:
EJ22 N/A
4EAT
Leather interior
.
.
I'll let the pictures do the talking for now, I'll update it with more info later tonight.
One pic of my daily.
So far, I've stripped the interior and gave it a good clean. Removed most of the front panels and little things around the engine bay.
Plan is to remove the engine and replace it with a reconditioned EJ22 and a 5MT swap while everything is out. Had a thought about EJ25 as well.

Cheers mate, yeah hopefully it isn't hiding any nasty surprises for me.

Yes! I know how rare they are, so that was the first on my list to preserve haha I removed them, cleaned them and stored them away in a box under my bed until everything is finished. unfortunately though, same can't be said for the grille! It's pretty worn out, it doesn't show up in photos but most of the chrome is peeling off.
Anyway, reason behind me securing a liberty as a project is this, my old car.

Yep, same 217 Colour code EJ22 N/A Liberty, but with a 5MT.
Swapped the 14s for forester steelies, wrk struts with superlow springs.
I returned that to stock and sold it for the golf.
I've missed that car ever since, so I decided to buy another one and build it to my liking.
Todays update, I removed the throttle body and put it aside. Flushed the radiator of all the fluids, and removed that. Detached both fans, cleaned everything thoroughly.
The fan housings and the top of the radiator could use some paint, so I'll get to it at a later date and paint a few bits together.

Where do you live? Looks very nice there. I wish my house looked like that. You've got a very clean car, I'm jealous. WRX swap it!

Sydney, Australia. I'm still an 18 year old kid living with his parents haha so the house would be my rents, not mine.
There are a fair few bits on the car that need attention, mechanically and aesthetically. So it's far from clean in my opinion! Maybe the photos are deceiving haha

Picked up a parts car a few hours drive from mine. Pictures from the drive!
It's good a good motor, good gearbox but the shifter linkages/bushes are pretty worn out. I'll be hacking up a fair few parts off this car as test mules for my plans.
Update with first car, I need to get hold of an engine crane to pull out the long block that's sitting in there.
It's almost completely bare.
Plans now are to remove and dump the engine out of grey liberty. Drop the auto trans and drivetrain and hopefully sell it someone who wants a replacement.
Extract engine out of white liberty, replace all necessary gaskets and seals and mount in grey liberty along with the manual box and drivetrain.
Hopefully there aren't many issues.
I'll hopefully be buying an engine crane soon, so it should be getting done soon.

Removed engine on the 31st and gave it a clean day after, and gave the bay a clean today! More effort than I thought it would be to clean...
Two decent leaks I found apart from the rockers.
Engine cleaned
Bay before
Bay after

Very Nice, Love the Daily to
Is there still tons of Liberty's on the road still down there ? Pretty Dry, but near the Ocean, All Rusted out ? There's barely any on the road up over here, Wet, Humid and near the Ocean
I have a Subie & VW Project, love em both, Even got some Ultra Rare Simmons FR90's for the Subie, but all my VW Friends want to steal them from me and widen them for there MK3's. 16" 5x100. Perfect MK3 Fitment !!!

I'd suggest replacing the rear plastic oil separator plate with one of the newer style metal plates. Also, you can get a new rear cam plug seal as well. I haven't had one fail/leak on me yet, but they can be replaced pretty easily.

EJ22 has been scrapped, I might as well upgrade while I'm at it. Removed a EJ25 N/A out of a Gen II RX-Bilstein.
Will freshen that up a bit, not swapping the ECU's or splicing any wiring, just doing it the lazy way around.
Swapping the engine harness from the EJ22 along with all the sensors and run it on the EJ25 block.
I managed to remove the transmissions from both cars till now, still have to pull some more bits off the parts car before it's gone. Pedal assembly, fuel pumps and a few more bits.
Don't want to update without posting pictures, so here is one from when we pulled out the auto transmission. Took us well over 5 hours to get it out, probably cause we were just lazing about not doing work.

The donor car is a turbo yes? Liberty RS?
I'm jealous of how many good examples there seem to be down there in Australia. Also, nice Commodore.
