is it cheaper to rebuild a auto trans or get everything for a 5 speed swap including labor

To do a proper rebuild on an auto trans, it could be up to $3000. As for the 5spd swap, I'm not sure how much a shop would charge you for labor. The cheapest route is to probably get a used auto trans to replace the existing one.

If he's going to give you the trans, shipping would probably equate to the cost of finding a good used trans in Colorado.
Look at
http://www.freightcenter.com for shipping prices. That's what I used to find a carrier to ship my trans. I think it was like $200 to ship the trans from Chicago to Houston. I picked it up at a depot location, which helped save costs.
Anyway, it may be worth looking into.

true. but they trans shop has to let me know whats wrong with mine yet
