Legacy rant

Just did a 2900 mile trip to Phoenix and was close to the Arizona test center/Nissan tech center so I made the trip down there just to be at the spot in the same month as the record was set. We weren't allowed inside, but did talk to some people that were around during that time. One little tidbit I thought was neat is that the road running from the gate side of the track to the area Subaru used for the record was a farm road. Subaru paid to have the road paved and to this day it is called Subaru Rd. I also learned they were at the facility from around Thanksgiving on for testing etc. and actually ran a 6day test before the big event.

On the drive down there was plenty of time to think and the car dominated those thoughts. If I was to buy a new car I would want it to be a brand new 91 sport sedan. There are some things I would like improved and here they are if I can remember them all.

No abs or sunroof
200 horse motor
Factory awic with the 2 spd pump and chimney retained
Sohc for less friction and the roller rockers from the 1.8 motor
Glass edm lights
Aluminum lower control arms.
Non motorized seat belts
Turn signals moved to the corners and real fog lights where the turns are
Cartoonish high beam indicator replaced with something a little more normal
More instrumentation along the lines of the optional gauges on later models that I fitted.
Side skirts
JDM exhaust manifolds
I know there is more that is a little nitpiccky that I won't go into here, but lets hear what you guys have to add.

I LOVE auto belts, idk just nostalgia i guess, but all in all i like your mod list. 6 speed would be nice, i'm running a na with a 5mt and kinda wish the gears were spaced differently. I've been running a chevy aveo for almost 5 years now though

The 6 spd adds quite a bit of weight. In the s4 I would go straight from 4th to 6th to save the shifting. There wasn't much difference between 5th and 6th to warrant the extra shift.

but that's the thing, i'd like the spec B 6th gear for highway, kinda like an overdrive-ish setup

Yup....me too, that's the only thing I'd change with the 6spd setup.

I'm not sure but I think 6th is very close to 5th in the 5 spd. I'm not sure which gear is direct in the 6 spd and if they put 2 gears above direct or added a gear below.

I was just looking through different ratios and found I don't know what I am talking about...

If they just offered the same models and options here as in Japan, I'd be happy. I'd take a raised-roof Touring Wagon with a 5spd. Only option I'd change is an EJ22G (using the US-spec turbo short block) as an upgrade from the EJ20G.

If I got to cherry-pick between components over the years to go into a new one, it would be said raised-roof Touring Wagon with an EJ20K and a 6spd.
