Shift boot and surround issues!

having an issue with finding the black boot and shifter surround.

it should be part number 92070aa120ml, which is the part number for both together brand new, but when it finally came into the dealer today its not black!

the parts catalogue on this site http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=30531 on page 1057 #16 says black and all the interior black parts i can find have the color code of ML

the only issue is in the dealers computer ML is for "black - off black" and if you go to the start of the parts book from LC the 94 turbo shift knob is ML "black - off black" where as the 93 shift knob is VG "black"

so from what I can tell ML is off black and VG is black. the only issue with that is there is no part number for the boot and surround that ends with the color code of VG which "should" be black?

I just looked through the parts book as well, and you're right. I'm not sure what to tell you.

Have you seen a black boot & surround before? Is there a part # on the shifter surround? Usually there should be something stamped into it.

I personally haven't seen black surround/boot but I know they much exist.
there is a part number stamped on the surrounds but they dont ever put a colour code on the end of it. i checked a few panels of my black interior

Like this? Sorry best picture I have that shows the boot.

Mine was a '94 with the factory interior in black. The only difference is that the knob is a brand new '02 WRX knob.
I think the part you got from the dealer is the wrong part. ML always signifies black in the parts book. It doesn't make sense that they would use VG for that one single instance.

I know in the parts book we use everything black is ml except for the 93 Turbo knob is vg.
In the Subaru dealers computer everything ml says black - off black
