Reminder 91- Check that your shifter is seated.

I have a 91 and I have read that in 92 they changed the shifter design.
Anyway, if you are running the stock shifter, make sure your shift rod is securely seated on its rubber bushing. I had a bunch of shifter slop when I bought my car and attributed it all to the bushings lower down. Well today when grabbing 4th the top of the shift rod came entirely off the rest of the shifter, given how tight it fits it probably had been working its way off for a while. After I pounded it back on I noticed it was much crisper in the forward-backward direction.
