I went on NASIOC tonight and was browsing around reading up some stuff, I made a post and went back an hour later under 'New Posts' to find it since there isn't a view your post feature there. My post from 1 hour before was on page 4.. So theres about a new post about every minute or so... Haha I just thought that was crazy since I check my posts on here frequently and we aren't THAT busy on here, it was just shocking to see how busy that site is even later at night. But then I remember it's a WAY larger community of people, and we're only here for a car of 4 years.

NASIOC kinda sucks people wise, I see too many egos on there. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I like our community here.

Yeah, it can get crazy on there at time. I just stay in my local chapter. We are a pretty tightly knit group in the AKIC. I just went down to Anchorage and met a bunch of other members while I was there. Took a car load of things from Fairbanks down for members too.

I use it for tech info and buying parts. No posting goes on, save that for the club I mod for.

NASIOC : 340,000 members. Most Users Ever Online : 11,654. Total Topics : 2,330,517
BBS : 6,123 members. Most Users Ever Online : 383. Total Topics : 41,013

Nasioc is a whole nother animal. Its like cities. The higher the population, the higher the crime and poverty. Nasioc is a cesspool of assholes. I would compare it like I would compare my small 5,000 population town of Tenino, WA with the city of Los Angeles, population 3,819,702. Full of assholes and crime. Tenino, on the other hand has very little, if any, crime and only a handful of assholes. But, just like a large city, there are good areas usually in suburbs and those areas on nasioc are the local chapters and the technical forums. If you have a low tolerance to assholes, stay out of Off Topic or get ready to grow some tuff skin.

The thing that irks me about NASIOC is that everyone is always right, and everyone has to have the last word. Therefore, you get reading about a topic, and you have to weed through pages of BS to get to the actual info.

Kimo, that site information is pretty interesting. And I agree with what you're saying small city vs big city.

Local chapters are good (not as good as this forum though ) and there's some great threads in the tech section especially helpful pre-2002 turbo section. Plus you really can't beat the classifieds variety. I sell stuff on nasioc and buy a lot of stuff on there.

What would be an even cooler stat to see would be the owner's revenue gross and net from the advertising on the board. I know he bought a brand new cts-v wagon I think last year so he's probably making a decent living off of his board.

If enthusiasm & community were deciding factors in car shopping, NASIOC would make me refuse to buy a Subaru.

Haha. Indeed. They are a cocky group. Its a community where you really need to put in your years to get respect and you have to be a jerk to everyone to fit in, especially new users. They removed the post count to try to cut down on this but they left the join date which is just as bad really. God forbid you ask a question that's been asked before! I can't stand how there's this niche group on that forum that uses all these stupid sayings and inside jokes that you have to spend a ridiculous amount of time on the forum instead of enjoying your subaru just to keep up with these stupid sayings and nasioc slang.

Kimo I totally agree about the big city vs small city thing, it's so true how they act on there. When being an asshole to new users or people with 'stupid' questions gets you respect, then you're in the the wrong place.

Its unfortunate. It could be such a better place full of knowledge and a place you could be proud to be a part of but I'd be ashamed to rock a NASIOC sticker on my car.

Agreed, Tech info and classifieds are occasionally useful.

its called keyboard cowboys...
get them in person and they cant defend themselves. thats why they have keyboards to speak their mind and not their mouth.

I didnt have a keyboard in prison. I had to speak my mind like everyone else....
