Crossmember needed for 5spd swap?

This may sound silly... but I've searched and don't see it addressed directly. Many people don't seem to mention it all in their write-ups. Do I need a 5spd trans crossmember, or will the AT crossmember work with an MT mount on it?
I've read about a lot of people breaking nuts off inside the body (seems to be the normal actually), so if I don't have to deal with it I'd be a happy man. If I do need to deal with it, I have my eye on one that I'll grab up.

When i get under my auto parts car, i'll look for differences between the types but i believe you need a 5mt xmember

Is there any reason a GD cross member wouldn't work?

I've got the trans already, and a lead on a crossmember if 02+ will fit.

I believe so, and here's why: the newer phase ii 8bolt trannies bolt to our engines just fine, and the 5mt tranny bushings work on 1990+ transmissions.
But... autos went through at least one revision to the cross member over the years - although I was able to bolt my 8bolt tranny to a 4bolt tranny's cross member once I used the older bushings.
So based on that, my educated guess is it'll work if you get the complete cross member+ trannh bushings and their brackets.

I agree with Mike....as long as you get the entire crossmember it should bolt up fine.

Sounds good, thanks. I figured that was the case, but thought I would make sure other people assumed the same, and that there isn't some crazy difference with the GD cars that I wasn't aware of. Even if it turns out not to fit, I will feel better knowing I won't be hearing anyone say "I could have told you that!"
