hi all,

i just picked up a 93 legacy wagon and just last night it was working but today when i flip the headlight switch on the turn signal stalk i don't get anything to light up. all the brake lights and turn signals work.

it's like i just can't any night driving lights to turn.

anybody got an idea on this? i've checked fuses but not sure which relays if any i should look at. i'm guessing that's it.

i thought about the illumination control unit but that wouldn't mess with the headlights would it?

i appreciate any input.

thanks

Could be some bad relays, but if there's no dash lights as well, I'm thinking might also be the ignition or ignition relay. when checking fuses sometimes you have to do more than a visual inspection i.e. check them with a meter. Another possibility is your wiper/blinker stalk might be messed up too.

Welcome to the BBS.

Since you're not getting headlights, parking lights, or anything I'd suspect the lighting stalk is bad.

I'm going to try to test that stalk out.

How would the ignition switch be an issue?

I noticed prior and even now that when the key was removed the lights couldn't be turned on. Is that a fail safe?

Lastly the parking lights switch on top of the column doesn't work either.

Thanks for all the help!

At least I can drive during the daytime. Haha

Yes that is a fail safe. I said ignition because all that stiff is routed thru the ignition. I.e. Why you cant turn your headlights and stuff on with out the key turned on.

Yellow relay blue plug under the dash drivers side close to the radio.

so after a an hour of looking and testing the relay and looking at fuses, I'm just staring at this wiring harness that's dangling. well there's like several. I happened to find the factory service manual so I matched that same harness at the switch. I plugged it in and voila, all good. I suspect the prior owner actually changed out something under the dash and didn't snap it in because I know for sure I didn't unplug it.

thanks guys for all the help.
