possible electrical issue?

Needing some guidance yet again with my 93 Legacy sedan. Coming to work yesterday evening I noticed my cruise control kick out (after being set on 70mph for ~30miles). Thinking nothing of it I carried on and tried to set it again, noticed the relay would engage but speed would not set. Got to my exit and began to notice the speakers pop when I hit my signal, either direction only on engaging the switch. Switching from D to R or P the speakers will also pop. Stopped at a service station and left the car running, idled at 1100rpm when I got out and when I got back in. Got to work and popped the hood to notice the faint smell of scorched plastic or insulation (though I did torch and melt the corner light bracket back together last night). I'm leaning toward it being an electrical issue due to the cruise part and the speakers popping. Engine is mechanically sound now after the last fiasco with the timing, only recent failures were worn break pads and a wheel bearing (unless I pinched something when the fender caved replacing the bearing or when I put the fender back on).

I would suggest checking all your ground cables. Start with the main ones at the battery and for the ECU, which is located on the backside of the driver's side intake manifold.

I had one partially broke at the firewall and a handful of burnt wires around my corner light. Also found the windings in the alternator practically exploded

Damn, that's not good about the alternator.
