Found this outback tranny with 4.44fd and just wanna absolutely make sure it should be fine to swap into my 94ss as my auto is on its way out. Can I do the swap with just the tranny and diff or do I need the matching rear axles as I've heard some say?

You will need to match the axles with whatever type of diff you get. If you get the newer style diff that requires the male stub axles, you'll need different axles. If you can find an older style diff that accepts the female stub axles with the same final drive ratio, that should work.
I do not know whether you can buy male stubs to go in the newer style diffs to convert them to accept female axles.
I can't tell from those pictures, but you need to confirm whether that trans is a phase 1 or 2 4EAT. You can tell by looking at the electrical connectors.
Here are the phase 1 plugs

Here are the phase 2 plugs

Lastly, I'm not sure from the pictures, but it looks like the input shaft has been pulled out of the trans, so it is essential that it is seated properly (once the torque converter is reinstalled). Or you could damage the oil pump in the trans.
