As the title says my transmission subframe is loose, not loose from the body but loose to its self. The link shows a picture of the sub frame looking like an "I", where the horizontal portions connect to the body and the vertical part holds the rubber trans mount.

My sub frame is loose between the front cross member, (the bottom of the "I" in the picture, or the part with bolts #1 and #2) and the horizontal part (the part that holds the rubber trans mount.

How should i solidly connect them again? i was thinking maybe welding them together would be the best solution.

If we're talking about the same things, the top and bottom of the "I" has bushings between the crossmember and the tranny. From your description, it sounds like the bushings are torn or non-existent. If you lift your car on jackstands and support the tranny, you can unbolt the crossmember to do an inspection.

I had a newer legacy with a torn main bushing, and when I launched it, or made a sharp turn under power, the tranny would actually knock against the tunnel or heat shielding. Swapped the bushing and I was back in business.

Yeah, I would agree, it sounds like the bushings are shot or possibly the nuts bolting the subframes together may have broken.
