Seat belt ECU

So I had an annoying clicking sound coming from my trunk this morning. It was coming from the left side in the trunk. After I got the carpet out of the way I saw the culprit, the seat belt ECU.

Can I use the seat belt ECU out of a 91 wagon?
There's a 95 or 96 wagon in the same bone yard as the 91, could I use the unit out of this one?

Any reason why there's 2 different numbers listed for sedan and wagon?

Thanks for the help guys!!

After checking the legacy wiki I found out that they stopped using auto seatbelts in 1995. That narrows down my search results for available parts cars.

The difference between the sedan & wagon is due to how the ECU mounts to the chassis. I suppose if you could take the guts out of one and put it in the other case. This is assuming that the seat belt computer from the 91 will work....which it probably should.

You're welcome.

If for some reason you find out that they are different other than just the mounting, let me know.

So I took a closer look at the circuit board and determined that the electrolytic capacitors, the black ones, had ruptured out the bottom.

I decided to replace them. The caps are on their way from china and I spent less than $4.

Here's hoping there's nothing else wrong with the components.

Cool!

Glad to hear it sounds like an easy/cheap fix. Like you said, hopefully nothing else is wrong.
