Welcome to the forum.

JF1/JF2 means the car was assembled in Japan, while 4S3/4S4 means the car was assembled in the United States.

No, the 10th digit refers to the model year, the M in your case.

The background information behind the 3rd digit is very cryptic; the full story has always eluded me. A JF2 or 4S4 car is considered an MVP (whatever that means) while a JF1 or 4S3 car is considered a passenger vehicle. It's something to do with weight classification.

Also, I removed your VIN from the subject of your post, just to be safe. Keep in mind, this is a public website, that's subject to spammers and malicious attacks, and a VIN is considered confidential information.

My 91 has JF2 as well, although Kleinkid's 91's vin (which is 1000 cars newer than mine) is JF1. My 92SS is a JF1.
