So my question is just like the title is 17x10 offset of +20 to wide for are first gen legacy's I'm not too worried about fenders. My concern is the back of the rim rubbing on my suspension as of right now I don't have coilovers but I'm hoping to buy some soon before I run the rims.

Has anyone ran this wide of rim before with +20 or close to it?

It is possible to do some measuring and calculations for a ballpark estimate.

Here is the visual breakdown of how offset works (just for reference).



You can measure the distance between the strut and your current inner rim lip.
Stock rims should be +53 offset, I believe. You should know your stock rim width and diameter.

Sketch your wheel and the wheel you want in the same manner as the photo. Analyze the sketch in relation to the strut spring perch location which most encroaches your wheel. Just standardize your units between the wheel width (inches) and offset (mm). You should be able to figure out how much more the new wheel will encroach into the strut. There is an extra dimension (Y axis) to think about when jumping in rim sizes.

One hard thing to account for with this method is the shape of a new tire, especially a different sized one.

You can always dent the spring perch if it's close or barely touching, or wheel spacers.

I think the real question here is how much of your fender are you willing to lose.

well I'm not planning on running any wider rim till i can also install coilovers. and i have seen the diagram before and found a website where you can put to rims together.

and about how much fender im willing to lose, i have been thinking of going with some 240z fender flares.

the only thing is the rear doors would be a pain to make work...

I ran a17x9 35+ and had to have the fenders pulled an inch. They still didn't fit right.



Now I have 17x8.5 42+ and I think it fits perfect.





Destroy your fenders if you want to, 17x10 is going to fit pretty poorly. I don't know if it's going to hit the coils, mine didn't but I think it was pretty close. Might as well try it.

Hmmm I really like the pic of the Goldie's lol idk I just found a set in Seattle area that are bbs rs reps for 600 shipped it's just the question is how much ill need to destroy my fenders but I'll see lol
