AT Shift Lock Solenoid Issues

Hey ever since I've owned my subie, it wont come out of park unless I manually press the release button. It is annoying, although I've sort of gotten used to it haha. We temporarily had it fixed by jamming the solenoid up so that it moved freely. This however, did not last long.

I really want to replace it, but I don't know where to find the part, AND I don't know the proper procedure of removing the gear selector to get to the solenoid (we had troubles earlier which led to the manual button connections to be damaged).

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

You'll need to remove the shifter trim pieces, which aren't too hard to remove. The top cover lifts straight up. There will be two screws on either side on the front of the lower shifter trim piece. You'll need to remove little plastic covers to get to them. Additionally there are two screws on the back of the lower shifter trim piece. These also hold down the center console, so I'd also suggest removing or at least loosening the two screws inside the center console so you can move it around and more easily remove the lower shifter trim piece.

There are then four screws holding the shifter base down that will need to be removed. There is also one screw that holds the shifter lever on. This screw will need to be removed so you can lift the lever off, however like you mentioned the wiring for the manual button goes through there so you may not be able to take it completely off. If you can remove the lever enough you should be able to remove the shifter base piece which should expose the solenoid. I would recommend testing the solenoid with 12v to make sure it is really bad vs. something else not causing the solenoid to actuate.

Here is a pic of the shifter

Also, some of these pictures may help with seeing how the trim pieces come off.
