hello, I have a 91 legacy with a rob tune 550 injector 06 wrx intercooler and a td05 turbo from a jdm sti. Stock radiator other than it is for an automatic and im running manual now. i also have the wrx coolant tank relocate done thats described on here.
last week i ran it at its first auto cross. my question is that i was running hot and my coolant overflow bottle was overflowing itself. Any suggestions? ideas on keeping the temps down in an autocross setting.? is its air in my coolant lines ? do i need better coolant ?
Thanks

Are the fans working? Is there debris in the radiator or condenser (if you have a/c)? How dose you heater work, a plugged heater core will make the car to over heat. (Learned that from personal experience)

Fans are working, heat works well, I still have ac I have not tried the ac . There could be debris in it . I just refilled after timing belt and seal job . Took quite a while to burp it, but I think I got the air out . Brand new oem water pump as well .

Have you experienced any overheating issues while driving normally and not at the autox? Do you drive spiritedly normally? What I'm trying to get at is would your car normally see the more agressive driving experienced during autox events during normal driving.

No it does not overheat during normal driving. I drive the car spirited every now and again during normal day to day driving, but the car is a designated autocross and rallycross car.

If this was the first time after the upgrades then I would look over how you have the WRX coolant tank piped up and all the other modifications to make sure something didn't get missed.

Hi,
I've never had overheating problems w/either my current '93 SS or my swapped '90 - and it was running the stock NA radiator - both were Auto-X'd. I'd look for any 'plumbing' issues.
Miles on the stock engine?
