Died while idling...

So my car was idling for about 5 mins. Went to pull off, and it had NO power. The throttle caused RPMs to go up slightly, but more than a little bit made it dip down and die out. First few tries cranking it tried to do something, but now it doesn't try to fire.

No CELs (shows codes 45 and 24, but pretty sure those were stored as it wasn't on when the car was running.) No knock light when she died.

My hope right now is the fuel pump, which would rock as I just had a dw200 arrive yesterday. Its over 1qt low on oil, but from my experience doesn't seem like an internal engine failure ( though I just changed it over the weekend and there's no leaks under the car... wtf?).

Part of me wants it to be a blown motor so I can buy an EJ257 short block...

^ Yup, turn the ignition to the on position and listen for the fuel pump to prime. can be easier if you fold the back passenger seat down.

Its been cold and windy and I can't tell if its not priming or I can't hear it over the awic pump. Really wish this would have happened in my housing development so I could get it inside my garage. I'm far enough south that I shouldn't have to deal with wrenching in sub freezing weather anymore dammit!

If you connect the green diagnostic connectors that will set all the relays to cycle on and off.

Will that cycle the fuel pump on/ off too?

Yup, fuel pump does nothing. No EJ257 short block today, but I should have my car running rather quickly.

Had time to get the deatshworks pump in. Hardest part by far was removing the old hoses. Fired right up :)

Really glad this didnt happen during my trip to VIR Sunday, when I was screaming at 4200rpm on the highway. Gradual loss of fuel may not have presented itself quite so gracefully then...

My moms car likes to eat pumps, and when it starts to misfire and has a misfire code for cyl 3 I know it going out again. I have a spare and change it on the side of the road.
