Hi everybody!

I've been having and idling/stalling problem/electrical glitch for a while now...

Just replaced 02sensor which helped a lot but didn't solved everything.

I finally performed the seat belt test, which pulled code 31, ignition switch is on when key warning switch is of.

At fer all the readings through the forum I was lead to the key warning switch connector, B61.

Now what am I supposed to do?

Also my key comes off the ignition while engine is running, so I usually take it out of the ignition while driving, is that bad?

I've been going through a bunch of alternators over the past three years, It'd be nice to fix this problem.

Good week end to all out here!

I guess the first move would be to replace the key warning switch, now gotta find where it is, never messed with this part of the car before.

Let's back up a little bit; can you provide a little more details on your issues.

The key warning switch and even the fact you can take the key out of the ignition when running shouldn't necessarily affect the running of the engine unless there is a ground or power issue that is affecting multiple things.

So are you wanting help with the engine idling/stalling issue or help with the key warning switch?

Hey Josh!

Yes the wild idling issue is what concerns me. I just care about the car running safe, and be able to do a 2h00 road trip without worrying, nothing fancy :)

Basically now it runs fine, with a solid idle most of the time, and then out of nowhere it will start idling up and down, and near stall.

Seems to happen when it's hot, and when I turn it off and let it cool a bit it starts again just fine. Is there a chance the seat belt code relate to that issue to start with?

I do not believe the seat belt code has anything to do with your idle issues.

What have you done to diagnose the idle issues? It kind of sounds like a possible MAF sensor issue. Are you running the stock intake or an aftermarket filter setup?

When you have the idle issue, if you turn the car off and then right back on again does the problem go away?

Stock intake.

Yes the it does go away after I turn the car on and off.

Could the code 31 have anything to do with draining my battery? I have had a small electrical glitch for a while (went to three alternators in 4 years...)

Try cleaning the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner or if you can find a cheap spare, try that and see if that helps your idle issues.

Regarding code 31 of the seat belt computer, I would recommend resetting the computer and see if the code comes back.

I just cleaned the maf sensor yesterday, good call! I also since I was at it checked most of my hoses, and guess what....found the pcv valve hose was FULL of gunk as well as the valve...I think from all that seafoam treatment it ended up up in here...also cleaned my throttle body which was pretty dirty. Looks like I have gained a few horse power back, taking the car to the coast today will see how it does!

Good to hear you found some things that may have been causing issues.

getting back to this tread after a long time....

well I've been catching up with the car, idle issue not related most likely like you said, cleaned the iac real good and all that stuff...fixed!

I use to have electrical issues, but since I put a solid alternator instead of that cheap napa stuff, no problems anymore...I went on vacations for two and a half weeks, came back, car cranked right up, so I assume I have no shorts, or ground, plus a mechanic also double checked for grounds and found nothing. So, let's say , Fixed!

I still have the blinking seat belt light light, all the time when I drive, it doesn't seem to be causing any issue as far as I know, I'm not sure if it's something that's worth investigating at this point?

Glad to hear it's running good.

Try pulling the codes for the seat belt computer to see what the problem is.
