adapting a EJ20g Robtune to a 1993 SS

I am going over this thread reading about ignition converters

http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=47252

However, I have a JDM 20G intake manifold complete with the COP ignition. Will this intake plug in to my harness and not need an ignition converter?

To my knowledge the stock SS wiring harness does not have the extra wires for the COP setup. You also need a four channel igniter and would need to run two extra wires from the ECU to the igniter, and then run the wiring from the igniter to the COP.

Hi,
Get the Ignition converter from Rob and you can run either an EJ22T or EJ20G ECU, per Rob. And you'll need the matching parts for the ECU - injectors, MAF, etc. and make the minor wiring changes (noted in my Thread) if it's the EJ20G ECU.

But you don't need the extra COP wiring or igniters.

Rob's converter is honestly the cleanest way to go.

I did the COP conversion, and while it wasn't that hard, if I did it again I'd go with the ignition converter honestly.

If you do want to run COP, I'd strongly recommend getting 02-05 WRX coil packs which allow you to bypass the ignitor entirely. This is actually much easier than trying to tie the stock 4ch ignitor into the system without a complete harness. Hell, I had a complete harness and and t was still easier to run the GD coils.

is their a guide to this conversion anywhere using GD coils?

Here's Rob's writeup explaining how to do it on his Impreza RS with an EJ20G swap:

EDIT: Kimo wrote a very good writeup that's specific to our cars: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=53990
