WTF, auto tranny is slipping again

I just worked on changing out all the vacuum lines to correct unstable idle. I found a bit of PS fluid leak at the rubber line between the reservoir and the line, so I changed that also. I lost a little bit of PS fluid which is Dextron III, but as far as I know it isn't connected to ATX.

Is there anything I could have messed up around the throttle body/vacuum lines that could affect the transmission or is this a pure coincidence? It sometimes slipped in the past, but its just gotten really bad yesterday.

How difficult is to locate a working FWD 4 EAT?
I don't want to spend a ton of money on it. How much would it cost to do a swap?
How involved is it?

I rarely see legacys with auto 4wd at the junkyard. I do see more 5-speed fwd trannies, usually on imprezas. Since you live in portland you should have a decent selection there. If you want to do a 5-speed FWD swap, you could do it for under $500 at junk yard prices. Maybe a little more if you get a nicer clutch.

You said it "slipped on the past" so I'd say its "done". Miles on it?

Go to car-part.com and search for a trans too.

Yeah....with that kind of mileage, I'd just drive it until it dies, and swap in another trans. Or just replace the trans before it dies.
