Subaru select monitor cartridges Q's

Ok.

So for many of years i have owned a subaru select monitor 1. You know the ghetto cool one that almost does nothing!

And just for giggles i thought to hook it into my Rob tuned SS.
What do you think happened?

Thats right. Nothing.

NONE of my carts worked i can guess why......
I dont own the right gen. cart for the rob tune ecu.

I think i own ALL the north American carts for the ssm1.

Does anyone know of any JDM/EDM carts? Or even info about them or ANYTHING!!!

Im not really after using the carts for "use" more or less to just own. Like collecting.
Like old nes games. That idea.

Also im not TOO sure i can scan my Rob tuned ecu.
Can you??

I know if any JDM car rolls into my work i can hook in the ssm2 and run cart number #24082aa080 the 97 and down.

i have used that cart on probably......countless amounts of STi's and legacy of JDM world.

Now the question is can you still find the "equivalent" SSM1 cart?

I might need to try the SSM2 on my rob tuned car aswell to see if she can be scanned!

Any yes you are thinking.
WHY!?
Answer.
Because i can.

Thoughts????

Thanks

Tom

Rob said he ups the baud rate when he does his tunes, so without so, e way of changing it to match on the scantool, it wont work. I believe he said hes willing to set the baud rate back to default if a customer asks for it.

Of course, this applies to using Evoscan and Revscan. No idea if the SSM works the same.

Hmmm interesting why Rob would change the baud rate?

I think thats probably for some sort of speed boost of sorts or just to protect his secrets mostly.

So also im assuming no one know of any SSM carts from over sea's?

Or is my problem just the fact that Rob has changed this " baud rate " causing any scan tool to be of no use?

I believe Rob changed the baud rate to improve communication speed with programs like Evoscan or Revscan. The stock baud rate is pretty slow.

Does anyone have instructions on how to use these things? I tried hooking one up to a friend's legacy and it seemed to just error out, no matter what input I gave it.

You have to have the right cartridge for the right car/ECU.

What cartridge were you trying to use with what car/ECU?

Depending on the cartridge, when you turn the select monitor on you press 0 to go into the option/program. The "/" option will cycle through the modes/options on the cartridge if it has more than one, i.e. ECU & TCU. Once you're in the main program you can cycle through the values with the arrows. There are specific codes you can type in to get to the specific functions instead of using the arrows, but I don't know them off the top of my head. They are listed in the FSM.
