A/c, fan blows fuse

I have a 1991 Subaru legacy I'm trying to figure out why as soon as I turn on max a/c the main fan fuse blows I have unplugged the fans the hp lp switch on the a/c dryer still blows any and all information would be appreciated

Welcome to the BBS.

Is the fuse blowing when you push the Max A/C button? Does it matter what the fan position switch is set at, 1, 2, 3, or 4? What happens when you push the AC button?
