Ej22 swap wont start

Picked up a 92 legacy with a blown headgasket for $200 the other night. Motor had 259k on it so I decided to grab another one from a guy on craigslist who had one in good shape. He didn't really know much about it, he said he got it with his ej22t (which I also bought
) and I figured I'd just throw the 22e in until I had a long weekend to do the 22t.
Anyways, got the phase 1 n/a ej22 in (same engine it replaced) and it wouldn't start. Had spark, had fuel, cranked, just not starting. I pulled the intake manifold off from the new engine and threw the old one on to see if it was injectors, fuel rails etc, but still no start. Didn't have a chance to pull codes since it was about 12:30 pm, and I had to hitch a ride to work from a friend at 7. I will when I get home though.
My guess is that it's crank position sensor, which I fortunately have 2 laying around I could throw in this evening.
My other thought, is maybe the gear on the crank shaft (sorry for my poor terminology) which drives the timing belt has different sensor triggers on it? I'm really not wanting to tear it back down to find them all the same.
Before putting the engine, I put a new timing belt on and set the timing (done it before, know I did it right.) I also inspected everything visually and it all looked good. Anything else seem like it might cause a no start?
