Blower motor problem

Does anyone know if I can use a blower motor from a 2nd gen car in my 90?

I'm pretty sure the brushes in mine are shot.

I'd like to be able to get something locally if possible. There's an import car junk yard near me that I can raid for parts if it's doable.

Thanks.

They are different part numbers, but you might be able to cobble something together between the 2nd gen motor and 1st gen housing, but that's a complete guess.

So I went out to the junkyard today and found a blower motor from a 96 legacy. I compared them before I bought it and they're close but I will need to fab an adapter plate because they redesigned it a bit.

The motor housing is slightly bigger on the new plastic one but the over all diameter is smaller than the old metal one. They really made it so you couldn't just pull the guts out of a new one and drop it into the old one. The bolt holes are not in the same configuration either. The hose end is also slightly larger on the new design. Luckily tho the plug is still the same and the new motor blows hard!!

I have a template that I've created already and I am going to use wood as my medium. With the bolt patterns the way they are I need something thick enough to accommodate the screws holding in the new unit without damaging the blower motor housing.

This is a nice little project that will have to be quick as it is winter up here in the mitten state.

Glad to hear it sounds like you can make it work.
