Can you convert an awd 5mt to fwd by bolting on the rear section fwd transmission to it. I am needing to replace my fwd 5mt and was told that this may be any option.

Iirc, you need the shorter main shaft as well, so basically you're tearing apart both trans to cobble one together... I'd just find the same type and swap it in..

If I'm not mistaken the FWD trans has a different final drive ratio also

Yes, the FWD does have a 3.7 final drive vs. either a 3.9 or 4.111 in the AWD.

I'm gonna go on a limb and say no-one has attempted this, at least on this site. ;) Final drive would be irrelevant (if it's possible), since you aren't matching to a rear diff. Unless the point of the exercise was to get the tallest gearing possible.

But, and here's some more speculating, if you could swap an awd to fwd, you could swap over the 3.7 FD ring and pinion over as well.

There are kits available to do the same, but they aren't cheap.
