Will my power antenna need to be replaced?

Makes this noise every time, although it's not as bad as the video makes it out.
Sounds like a gear is stripped, and It won't go all the way down.
Do I need to replace the whole unit?

Mine does that. Next time it goes down
Put gentle pressure on the top and get it to go all the way in. Then cycle it a few times. Sounds like the motor is good. Might be a few bad teeth on the mast

I took the assembly apart and found the teeth on one of the gears was too worn down to move the other gear with the electrical contacts (which turns motor on/off), resulting in the motor still running when the antenna is all the way up (crunch noise).
I was originally going to replace it with a universal assembly but I don't feel it's worth it for around $120 for a good unit. And I don't want to put in a chinese crap, that will ultimately fail and be impossible to get parts for.
Instead, I disconnected the power to the motor, and removed one of the gears on the inside so I can pull the antenna up and down manually. That should be good enough for my use.
