RIP 92SS, accident, possible salvage title?

So, I'm still not sure at all how this all works here in OR... but my poor 92 SS was totalled (as far as I can tell, insurance adjustor due Monday (tomorrow) to check it out) in an accident recently. I have not really been able to inspect under the hood at all, but hopes are not very high.
This was a stock 92 SS, except for the boost gauge and KYB AGX adjustable struts / shocks I had installed.
It was a 40mph head-on collision with a 2008 Honda Odyssey who decided to try and gun it to turn left in front of me at a flashing yellow left turn signal as I entered the intersection with a green light.
I neither have the space nor the facilities to take this car back home to strip still-useful parts from it or part it out or anything like that. It makes me extremely sad to think this car will just end up in a junkyard.
As I’ve said, I’m not sure how this works, but I think I can get a salvage title and retain ownership of the car after the insurance adjuster is through with it… anyone in the Portland area interested in a slightly smashed parts car?
The engine and 4EAT transmission were in great shape up until the smash, no idea how either held up. Also had just put on new brake rotors and pads all around a couple months before this happened.
Also, anyone who knows how Oregon works with this kind of thing, any advice here?
Thanks!

The insurance adjuster will lowball you, don't take the first offer. You need to convince him that you can't replace the car for what he is giving you, which will be around $1000 if you are lucky. I always get listings and print them off to show value of my car and all receipts for any engine or trans rebuild which they will take in account those items, even if you don't have receipts I've told them that I rebulit the engine my self and they will ask for receipts say you didn't keep them. A lot of times they will count it. I've done this many times on my cars and always get high book value.

Sorry about that. But from the pictures it's now a parts car. Since they can't find these cars anymore they will compare them to non-turbos and lowball you. You can ask for your settlement minus the salvage cost of your car (about 300) and keep the car to do what you want with it. I would hold out for something near 3k.

Take it from me, do not accept their offer. It'll be a fight for a month or two but you can get them to come up substantially higher than what they offer you. I did not know this when I crashed mine and they gave me an original offer of $700 to keep the car and I couldn't believe it. I talked them into $900 and keep the car. They offered $1,000 and they keep it.
My friend robert has his stolen and they tried lowballing him too but he fought it and printed off all the highest listed legacys he could find for sale and on forums and got them to give him over $6,000! I think it took 2+ months of telling them no and sending them the cars he found for sale but it's totally worth it. They are obligated to make you whole again, not fuck you. But if you let them, they sure will.

Thanks for the replies guys, was helpful and appreciated.
I got them up to $2750 and am taking that offer. Still makes me sad but at least I can use this money to help make my 94SS better.
I have absolutely no place to put the car or I'd get the salvage title and the car back, so I had to just let them junk it.
Er, "Coming Soon To A Junkyard Near You!"
Not sure which one it ends up at, but if someone sees it at a junkyard please can you post on this topic or PM me? I would really like to know where my poor car ends up after all is said and done...
Thanks again everyone!!

Yep, the tranny is AWD 4EAT automatic. Was still workin just fine up until the moment of impact, no idea if it survived the accident intact really. There's also a boost gauge in there I didn't get out; some junkyard hunter is going to have a nice surprise when this car makes an appearance, lol. I was in too much pain to try and pull anything out.
Who knows, the AGX's might still be good... again, someone's lucky day at the junkyard heh

Well I haven't signed the title over just yet, thats what i was just about to do.... i could still request a salvage title but would immediately become responsible for the car and i have no way to do anything with it.
Got any ideas? I'd much rather this went as a parts car to you if I can do so without any trouble (been dealing with a lot lately, don't need no more trouble lol)
PM me, I'll hold off until the end of the day to actually sign the title and put it in the envelope in case we come up with a better idea in the meantime.

I have a truck and trailer to tow it anywhere anybody wants for the price of gas. How much does the insurance company want for a buyback if its not gone yet?

It's at Copart right now so you can get it. Or let it go and see what yard it goes to
