I need flywheel advice

Post by FundamentalyConfused »

I need help figureing out what to do with my spare 2.2L flywheel. I need to do the clutch in my 99 Forester and I don't have the time to get the flywheel that's on the car resurfaced before I get the new clutch in.

My question is do I need to have the step down cut into the flywheel? The spare has it that way. Since it's going to go on a 2.5L can I have it resurfaced and not need to worry about having the step down fixed?

Thanks.

I personally have all my flywheels resurfaced with .020 step out on the edge. The main reason is the clutch last longer and you have a little more clamping power. It will work with out the step also, it's more of a preference I think.
