puttered around town today, after cleaning my engine bay. used degreaser and a garden hose on shower setting low low pressure. it sat for 3-4 hours I drove it to get some cigs, maybe a 10min round trip. it does smoke on startup but goes away after a bit of driving. got to the shop and heard bubbling . (it did misfire on me once or twice on the drive) it was bubbling into my no. 1 cyl spark plug hole. about half full of fluid. not oil. nothing milky when I check the oil, no black stuff in puke tank or radiator cap. there car has sat for about two years only getting drove around the block once a month or so. so could this be from cleaning the engine? if so why would it by bubbling into that spark plug tube? or is it deffinatly the head gasket? I haven't drove it enough to tell if its using coolant or oil.

1992 Subaru Legacy Sedan 2.2L AWD

Thanks in advance for any answers or advice!

You have water in the spark plug holes, just blow them out with compressed air I'm sure all will be good. At start up you have some smoke and clears up, is valve seals are not sealing properly, but I wouldn't worry about that.

yeah what he said. Water in there will cause your misfire for sure. And its impossible for coolant to get in there unless its someone making it over there from your cross over tube and dripping in there from there. As for the bubbling noise, sounds like you might have an air bubble in your coolant lines. Usually can be heard as the bubble go through your heater core.
