Hey im rather new to subarus and did all my research and collected all my parts and did the swap. Had a hell of a time getting the car to start but when i did my tachometer and my temperature gauge are not functioning. From when i did wiring wise for the swap to work theres nothing related to the tach or temp but i coule be wrong.

Welcome to the BBS.

Can you please provide some additional details on your car and the specific parts you used for the swap.

Have you looked over my 5spd swap write-up; I have all the details you need there for the electrical.

Yup. Im the guy who was emailing you with questions. I have managed to figure out the tach so thats fixed now i just have to figure out why it is hesitating kind of like its bogging out. Its a 91 legacy i followed your guide for my info and followed your prosses as best as possible. I used the transmission flywheel and pedals from a 96 i used my trans harnes to wire my reverse and neutral switches. It runs great asside from every once and a while shen i step on the gas i have no power and i start to decelerate. It does this for a few seconds and then i take off like a rocket

I'm guessing you didn't have this problem before the swap?

It almost sounds like a MAF issue, but don't see how that would have happened if you didn't have any problems beforehand.

No it ran great before the swap. I have a feeling i need to check my grounds. But i also have a spare maf so i wil try that aswell today after work.

The temp gauge not working could be as simple as the wires connecting to the crossover pipe under the intake manifold getting unplugged. Should be a 2 wire and also a 1 wire plug going there.

I fugured out the cluster sorry should have mentioned the entire cluster came back when i fixed the tach. I found a set of connectors that were not connected propperly. Now im just trying to fix the heaitation now. I got a use but low km ign coil and a set of ngk wires
I got a nother tps from the wrecker so if that fixes it ill buy a new one incase that goes again and i have another maf im trying in a few minutes after i eat. No food all day makes for a grumpy tech

Ok so found a broken clamp where my intake pipe goed to the maf. It almost completly fixed the problem. I think i may need a tps because the issue only comes up at a certain throttle possition but not always. Im going to look up how to change one and try that tomorrow

The "official" method is to plug in the green test connectors and the black test connectors under the dash and turn the ignition on. I'll admit that I've had better luck with the battery method - remove the negative and tap the brakes for a couple seconds to discharge any remaining energy.

Don't mess with your TPS right now. Just unplug the battery and let it sit for a few hours and give it another run. See if it still happens. Good to that you found that loose clamp, Josh was spot on the problem sounding MAF related.

Can you provide a little more information for others that may be searching in the future as to what the specific issues and fixes were?

Thanks

The running rough issue was fixed after i did a fuel filter and reset the ecu. Also replaced the maf for good measure. Long time delay
