Well it's been about two weeks trying to find this issue.

Did timing belt service, reinstalled everything I go to hook up the battery I notice

1. Fans turned on immediately
2. Accessories inside the cabin turned on
3. Fuel pump doesn't turn on when turning key to accessory
4. Doesn't start (obvious)

I'm assuming it's a ground issue.

I have already check wires leading to the pump, as well as chassis grounds in the engine compartment, I found 3.

From here I'm a bit lost, I have trouble understanding the electrical diagrams in the service manual.

Pump is a 255 installed last year.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Checked a few threads , legacy777 mentioned a ground for the Ecu being grounded to intake runner number 4 on the back. Anyone have a photo of the specific wire that needs to be grounded?

The ECU ground is the big ground coming off the Neg battery wire. It's bolted on to the intake manifold directly infront of the brake booster. I'd make sure that's tight.

Can you please clarify a few things:

You mention the fans turned on immediately, is this when the key is off, in the ACC position, or in the ON position?

Again when the accessories turned on, was this when the key is off, in the ACC position, in the ON position, and what accessories turned on?

The fuel pump is not supposed to turn on when the key is in the accessory position. The ECU controls the fuel pump and will turn it on for a second or two to prime the system and then does not turn the pump on until it receives a signal the engine is cranking.


To confirm, is all you did was the timing belt? Did everything work fine before you did the work? I would focus on trying to back track your steps to see what you did to find any loose or damaged wires/sensors.
