Who here has ran the EJ22T short block and 205 head combo? I have some questions so if someone could message me and help that would be awesome. Thanks.

Nvm figured out my questions but still post on here if you have. It's nice to talk to people who have run this set up before since for the most part I'm going in blind building this thing.

It is what I have in my SS. It's a great combination. What plans do you have for engine management?

Was going to run an 02 Wrx ecu and a Carberry open source tune.

You never sent me those images you were worried about. Did you get my number?

I'm running a 22T/205 hybrid as well. Wiseco pistons, STI rods, chamber matched heads, STi cams & valvetrain, tgv deletes...
Opensource tune 03 Wrx ecu (this setup is in my 03 Wrx), and td04. Currently putting down 240-260 whp and 260ish lbsft @ 4500 feet above sea level. Catless tbe, SPT exhaust and intake.
Love it! I wAs saving for an 18g xtr but my center diff just broke.

I'm using a sti 6 speed for mine. Just got my new flywheel in so that my crank can be balanced. I'm assuming i'll have to run Sti flywheel bolts instead of using the ones left from my EJ22t flywheel? Will the sti bolts work with the EJ22t crank?

The flywheel bolts are the same, manual to manual. The STI pressure plate uses 3 more of the same bolt vs the stock or WRX pressure plate.

Is the main seals the same as on all the other subarus? Or should I order a specific one for the Ej22t block?

The rear main is the same as the other subaru EJ engines.

And the seal on the oil pump?

The o ring and seal is the same as the rest of the EJ series, and the whole ej22t oil pump assembly has been superceded to the GD WRX/STI one, if you were to order new.

Ah. I'm trying to clean my oil pump up. I'm assuming its got 160k which is what the block had when pulled. Just had a lot of muck on it and old gasket.

Yeah I understand. If you take the screws off (on the back of the pump), you can inspect it for wear or damage. All the ones I've seen (save for ones that went through a spun bearing) looked in near perfect shape.
Also, what are you going to do about the forward PCV? 90* port on the top of the 22t block? I mocked up the ej205/255/7 crossover pipe on my block and it contacts that pipe. My idea is to use a phase I crossover pipe with the sensors on the same side as the ej205's so the wiring easily reaches and cap the port off.

I used the 25D cross over and used the newer 3 pin coolant temp sensor. This worked for me pretty well actually. I also used 2 drivers side heater core hoses.
Edit... I striped the electrical tape off the engine harness to move the wires, I didn't have to extend anything.

Good information CJ. Is your under manifold turbo inlet silicone or the stock plastic piece? I am wondering for clearance purposes. I sourced an ej20k crossover pipe (phase I, but has under manifold turbo inlet like the ej205), but the damn thing interferes with the 22t's 90* port also.

I used a gimmick silicone inlet

Can you use that cross over if you still need the two separate coolant temp sensors (one for the dash and one for the ECU)?

Yes. The 25D cross over pipe can be used the same as 22t for ECU and in car temp readings.

I had that 90* PCV removed and capped off on my block.

Even better. I should have that done so i can run a better crossover.

I just had the machine shop do it when the block was getting bored out and cleaned.

Once I get my block and heads back from the machine shop and can get some pictures I'll post up a build thread for this motor.

I eft the sensor for the gauge in the cross over and threaded the newer 3 wire in where the older cts went.
