Well.

To put the car back to "stock" is i would think fairly difficult in my opinion.
Mainly because i would have to pull the turbo, and other junk related to that.
But i could do that as a last resort.

I know my local tuning shop called speed factor racing DOES do in shop dyno tuning.
But they use AEM stuff from what i see.
Also sadly there dyno is just 2wd. To bad my car was NOT a R32 GTR. Lol you can just pull the awd fuse and it defaults to rwd.

Also for whats around for the data log and tune deal is mainly just Cobb.
I know a few buddies of buddies that have done that.
Seemed to work OK like.

In terms to tuning software for stand alones.
I had a AEM FIC and that was fairly easy to use. I just could not find anyone that would touch a piggy back ecm.
I could do all sorts of junk just not use full stuff i guess.
I think i will check out some AEM stuff sooner than later.
I have seen many a video and article on Haltech stuff.
I selected it mainly because the software looked SOO easy to use.
Just looked like plain English!

And yes thanks for the heads up on the whole stand alone tuning experience you have had.
Its good to know its just not perfect asap!

Also what stand alone do you have?

Currently still just cruising around now in closed loop waiting for some CEL to pop up now.
Probably check in a day or so.

Also now im checking out that ESL board!

Anyways

Thanks for the fast reply!

You don't have to have everything back to stock, you just need to be able to run the stock MAF and injectors. So you can keep the turbo, just run lower boost. I'm assuming all the other sensors are stock so as I mentioned it's really just the MAF & injectors....and ignition if you converted to COP....which may be a bit of a pain.

I run a Link G3 Plus ECU that was upgraded to the G4 software. I like it, but they've switched hardware manufacturers and the newer G4+ ECU's are better and have more features. There's several versions of the ECU, but you're likely looking at around a $1,000 minimum investment on hardware alone....and then you would still need to install it.

Here's a link to their product line.

My best recommendation is to do some homework on the various options available to you and see what you can get for local support, email support, etc. and then go with what fits your needs best.

OK.

Long time no see.
I had to wait for this for a long time for a real result.

Update:

So i had this odd running AFR when pressing the brakes last summer and into fall.
I think i figured out the problem over this spring and summer time.

The cars battery was just weak.....
Yes that sounds so dumb and so simple it hurts....AND IT DOES!

Full story.

One day at the end of my shift my car cranked over sort of slow like/not as fast.
So i thought it just a weak battery and ill check it tomorrow on lunch.
So next day rolls around and at lunch i pull my car into my bay and hook up the official Subaru GR8 to my car.
I ran the full system diag. and found nothing out of sorts but the battery was lower than it should be.
So i let the GR8 "recharge" my cars battery for over an hour and a half.

Since then the car has ran MINT and like a top!

SO to sum this all up.

If you have an odd running issue at all.
Check the easy stuff.....Like your battery.

Tom,

Thanks for the follow up. I'd keep an eye on the battery and/or the alternator. I've had an alternator that checks out ok when tested in the car, but fails when it is tested stand alone. So if you see the voltage decrease again I'd pull the alternator and have it tested separately.

Good call on the alternator.

Good thing in converted the car to run the more easy to find 2 wire alternators.

But again. All seems good!

I will for sure test the alternator on the bench one of these days.

Just need some time.
