Stalling with white smoke

Hey everybody, I'll try and describe this to the best of my ability.

So I bought an ss from one of the members on here not to long ago. It's got the original 440 robtuned Ecu on it with a td05. Basically whats happening is while I'm driving and I go to hit boost, it'll climb all the way up to 13psi and then stall out and emit this white smoke out the exhaust. It sounds hideous. While this is happening the cel knock light is going crazy. When I originally purchased the car it ran awesome! But now I'm left scratching my head.

It idles fine, and there's no leaks to my knowledge. I plugged in the black connectors and got codes for the knock sensor and iacv. But I think those might be stored codes. Tried running d check mode while on the freeway and the cel stayed steady, and would occasionally blimp 1 or 2 times. The only mods that I have done to it was put new ngk wires and copper ngk plugs. And also a gfb manual boost controller.

If I left the stock boost control solenoid plumped into the intake/turbo this same problem would occur. Hence why I got the mbc.

Anybody have some thoughts? Thanks

Any chance you or a passenger could take a video of the noise/smoke when it happens?

Does the smoke have a bluish hue to it vs. more steam? It could be that the turbo is on its way out. You could pull the turbo inlet elbow off and see if the compressor shaft has any substantial play in it.

the turbo was rebuilt 2 years ago. I have the paper work in my glove box. And its just solid white smoke. My theory is that it's pulling timing because my knock sensor is actually going to shit. The knock sensor light will now just keep flashing when my car is parked.

White smoke means hg. My guess is under boost the head is lifting enough to allow coolant to slither by and that's when it makes car buck and smoke.

Just went and checked my codes. I have the following:

22 knock sensor
31 throttle sensor
42 idle switch
45 atmospheric pressure sensor

Any thoughts?

Cleaned the ground points on the strut tower and ceu. I also Gapped my plugs to 0.35. check engine light went away for about 20 minutes and I was boosting hard! then as soon as I picked my gf up the light came back on...

Did you happen to check the codes when the light went off? Do those same codes come up after you clear the codes?
