I know this might be a long shot but I found an lsd out of a 91 legacy ss but do not have the specific axle stubs that are needed for this differential to work. Let me know if you have what I need! Thanks.

Could you provide a picture of your diff for reference?

Aren't the stubs on the axles on the '91s?

Might be hard to find without a complete diff. Without those stubs, the diff is next to useless...
On that note, I've got a good, but high mileage diff (with stubs) if you're interested...

It's all good, just trying to help. You have to use an image sharing site like photo bucket. You upload the images to that site and then copy and paste the links to your post.

I'm just missing the axle stub. I already have a used 3.90 lsd differential And if I can't find the stub then I guess I'm out of luck lol

sorry I can't help, as I'm in the same boat...LSD and stubs. It's 'very' hard to believe that Subaru didn't use these in something else....even if they were a '91 SS only part.
I've read about STI axle stubs like these, but obviously they're different.

Early JDM WRX used those stubs as well. The only USDM car that used them was the 91 SS as far as I know for sure. The late '80s Subaru RX may have them as well for it's clutch-type LSD. They are very, very rare to find without a diff, so good luck in your search.

Found this opposedforces.com.
#4 is the Shaft-axle drive 38415AA010. Shows this is from a '93 Impreza and under the WRX sub-category, but it's European - not JDM.
JP-carparts.com shows the same part but shows it for newer models - '94-'97, so doubt it's the right one.
Opposedforces doesn't show any SS parts or before '93.
If that part exists on its own, 'might' be avl. from jp-carparts.com or similar?
Partsouq.com doesn't have it.
Not sure where else to look for early JDM parts.

Yeah, that's not the right part wtdash. You can tell because it's the same for left and right. The early VLSD uses two different stubs.
Good news is, I used my super-secret-squirrel powers to find the proper part numbers. Bad news; mucho discontinued. At least now you know what part numbers you would need.
#10 - 27017AA001 - Spindle Assy RH - List Price $133.85
#11 - 27017AA010 - Spindle Assy LH - Discontinued
#9 - 2x 622034020 - Packing - Discontinued
#12 - 27019AA000 - Circlip (Viscous) RH - Discontinued
#13 - 27019AA010 - Circlip (Viscous) LH - List Price $0.80

Ha...just found those too on
Josh/Legacy777's parts catalog.
Edit: I just read that the SVX might have used the same stubs? Different FD ratio, but there's probably a few more SVX's than '91 SS.....sitting in a Yard w/a blown trans?

94+ SVX did not use the correct stubs, I'm having trouble getting access to 92-93 parts catalogs so I can't speak for those years yet.
I do have the dealer parts lookup software, but it only goes back to 94 on the SVX.

Corrections/comments: The RX axle stubs won't work, they are equal length while the 1991 VLSD has unequal length stubs.
The SVX has unequal length axles, which may or may not work with your diff. The problem would be you'd need to swap to SVX hubs (impossible, won't bolt up) or possibly STI hubs ($$$$$$$$$$ when you account for the fact that you need rear brembos or 2 piston calipers from the 2006-2007 WRX, rotors and pads) to use these axles. I read that someone tried making a custom axle using the unequal length stub from an SVX, and "normal" axles, it didn't work. If you were to attempt custom axle route, you only need the "longer" svx axle, as a conventional 95-99 legacy axle fits the other side.
SVX axles fitting STI hubs:

I'm having a hard time finding a pic of SVX axles, but they look similiar to this (a pic of 90s JDM unequal axles for a CLSD diff):

Fateo66 says the SVX diffs are the same as the legacy turbo, but have a different spline count. I don't know if he's just referring to the outer axles or the part that goes into the diff.

So SVX axles may be out as well. Or may not.

Thanks for the info Mike and Gabe.
I think I'll just mount the Diff on the wall in the shop.

I don't get the point of separating those unique stubs from that diff

Lots of times people don't know they're special and the stubs get left in the axles.
Overall, much easier to get a WRX or Outback Limited VLSD rear carrier and put it in your own 3.90 diff. Easy, cheap, and no stubs required.
