RRUN RACING FINISHES TOP 10 IN TWO NATIONALS
VANCOUVER, BC RRUN Racing completes round 2 and 3 in the Western Canadian
Champion Series and finishes top 10 in both these National Events. RRUN
Racing grabs 1st Regional Novice in both events and 1st National Novice in
the Rocky Mountain Rally.
“We are very pleased with our results,” said Mark Ward, RRUN Racing Driver.
“It was a tough race with Production Class 4 cars all over the competitor
board. Our main objective was to finish in the top of the class and see how
we placed in relation to the field.” RRUN Racing placed 10th overall at the
Big Horn, where they would have placed 4th if it were not due to a 7 minute
road penalty that was incurred in transit. And, placed 7th overall at the
Rocky Mountain Rally. “ We not too worried about the penalty, most
importantly, we had tons of fun!”
When ask what attributed to their successful road trip, Ken Kwong, Co-Driver
for RRUN Racing says, “ Our planning and preparation really paid off being
on the road for 10 days can really wear you out but in the end we’re glad we
took the time to plan everything from servicing to worst case scenarios.
This was a great learning experience for us and we’ve learned a lot about
our car and ourselves.”
“ We’d like to thank Glico Canada Corporation for their generous support
through samples of their signature product, Pocky.” says Ken, referring to
the chocolate and custard covered biscuit sticks. RRUN Racing handed out
over 1000 sample packages of Pocky snacks to fans, spectators, competitors,
crews and media at both events. “ It was a lot of fun and it brought us
great publicity!” says Mark. At the events, chants of “Poc-ky! Poc-ky!
Poc-ky!” could be heard from spectator points to the awards ceremonies. “ It
was unbelievable how we’ve unexpected branded ourselves as the Pocky Boys.
It just goes to prove that rallying can offer marketing opportunities to any
type of sponsor. The most important thing is to make sure we get the fans
involved and that they are having fun and enjoying themselves!” says Ken.
RRUN Racing’s next event will be Mountain Trails held at Cache Creek, BC on
June 16, 2001. This is round 4 of the Western Canadian Championship. More
information can be found at www.rallybc.com.
RRUN Racing is also supported by RRUN vni, A&J Racing, OK Tire and Service,
and Glico Canada Corporation.
