Pannel Vs Cone filter?

Hey all,
I'm just about to buy an air filter for the RS and am between a K&N
pannel filter in the stock airbox (I'd remove the silencer box in the
front arch and get some larger feeding pipe to flow into the box) or
a Cone Type filter (I was looking at the Simota) both are failry
comparable in price. arround $140 NZ for the K&N and $160 for the
simota.
So what are peoples sugestions. I'll have a Group N front down pipe
soon, have a new performance rear muffler going on soon as well. Will
also be looking to setup a manual boost control. So which would suit
my needs?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
