Seems like a good time to chime in for the fist time,
so here goes,

My name is Jerry McCavitt, residing in Long Island,
NY. I'm an Avionics technician working at JFK airport.

I have a '91 Turbo Legacy familiar to some of you,
having purchased it from one Matt (Shik) Sciccitanno
(sorry if I botched that spelling)a few months ago.

Stats:
130K on the clock, metallic black, (seriously scuffed)
Early WRX intercooler, cold air intake w/ K/N cone
filter, 3" custom SS downpipe, hi-flow cat. I took off
the Apex N-1 muffler and fitted a Brullen dual tip. No
power loss, significantly reduced coast-down noise,
and I don't get flag-draped lowered automatic Honda
civics trying to walk up on me at every light. (I love
NY)
Installed the KYB-GR2 struts Matt provided w/ the car,
very nice, firm. Fixed the shifter w/ an Imprezza
linkage; I won't speculate on what happened to the
original, suffice to say the throw was measured in
feet, not inches. VDO boost guage, WRX blow-off valve,
manual boost controller, name escapes me. I'm sure a
lot of you know more about this car than I do, I'd
apreciate any input.
Car runs great, needs cosmetic clean up. Oh yeah,
brown headlights were included. I cleared them up
nicely using a mildly abrasive paste (rubbing
compound) or try chrome polish. Anything not too
aggressive, just rub the oxidation right off.

First mod I did was removing the front turn signals,
routing the wire up to the marker light w/ new
sockets, and installing Hella FF driving lights in the
holes. Looks pretty good, very bright. Incredibly
painless wiring harness comes with the lights, true
plug&play.

One thing I have noticed, and I caught the tail of a
thread here, is that part throttle gives the same
performance as full throttle; I gather this is a fuel
pressure/delivery issue? Watching for
pump/injector/fuel rail opinions. Car is set around
11-12psi now, occasionally hitting boost cut (stock,
still hooked up.) The more I drive the car, the more I
am impressed by it, and also realise what potential
lies within it. Look forward to talking to you all.

Jerry

PS. I also own an '86 VW Vanagon Syncro. Semi-obscure
all wheel drive vehicles: one just ain't enough.

Welcome Jerry!

I'm glad to see that Matt's turbo was purchased by someone who's
active in vehicles and doesn't just drive.

I kept telling him that he probably wouldn't sell it if he put the
GR2s on and fixed a few things...oh well, looks like you're catching
up for him.

The MBC is a Hallman, one of the best, though i prefer electronics
myself.

Would you consider selling the N1? I'm looking for a muffler. Is it
that loud?

On the fuel thing, i've noticed that 2/3 throttle is about the same
as WOT, most of the time. I'd venture to guess that something in the
system is a bottleneck. ~380cc injectors should be OK, i've never
gone past 75% duty cycle on mine, even at a peak 13PSI. Fuel pump
could be gettin old, a replacement of higher flow never hurts. Fuel
rails are one thing that almost no one has done anything about.

Vishnu Performance, owned by Shiv Pathak (Project Impreza in SCC),
has both upgraded fuel pumps, injectors and new fuel rails for the
2.5. I'm not sure if they'll work on an EJ22T, but it's worth a look.
