what to look for ina 91 legacy sport

what to do if i have a car with an unkown history?
what kind of tests should I have my mechanic perform
to determine the condition of this car. It already has
a 137,000 miles and is an automatic. I was told by
mike shields to have valve number 3 checked with a
compression test and leak down test. And the clutch
packs in the tranny. Is there anything else that might
kind of be hidden that I should have checked out?
