anyone care to give me any pros or cons on this idea?

cutting a 4" hole in the passenger side fender straight over from the
air box intake from the snorkel(with the snorkel removed) and running
a piece of pvc pipe and an elbow bend for the new intake. i got the
idea from a site i visited the other day(forget the name) but kinda
modified it. they had ideas about running the pipe to the front of
the car for maximum air but i figured this should be just about as
good. just need to know if it'll mess up the MAF sensor from too
much air. keep in mind it'll still be going through the air box and
filter and maybe even putting an extra filter at the front of the
pipe. if i get balls enough or can find an extra fender i might try
it. i think you could make it look pretty damn cool too. fabricate
a little hood for it or maybe just run the pipe to the fender and put
a hood there. hmmm.... just thought of that. that'd probably be even
easier to make a hood for and lighter. open to all criticism...

I know some people have done this, but you must consider the fact
that the intake temperature on a turbo car isn't as important as it
is on an N/A car.

Your turbo system puts a LOT of heat into the air while it's being
compressed. Whether you have a cold-air intake or not, you aren't
going to notice much, but i'm sure it'll probably get you a few
degrees.

The JC intake i have is pretty nice, and a new version will be
available pretty soon. It really sounds good and i've noticed a good
power gain when the revs climb, even with my slushbox.

see any problems with it doing anything to the MAF? oh and btw

The turbo is drawing so much air that a little extra positive flow
shouldn't hurt anything. It's restrictive enough anyway that the air
will just pool in front of it, if it's that much.

These MAFs are pretty resilient.
