Does anyone know what size the stock speakers are all
around on a 91 legacy sport?

They should be the same as the 90 Legacy, they are 6 1/2 all the way around. They should be the same. I doubt they changed speaker size for one year diff. The front speakers have a little angle plate on them, but they are 6 1/2

Well I'll stick my oar and say that they are 6". I did a lot of research
before trying to fit new speakers to my 94 Legacy and went out and bought
6.5" speakers because that's what the manufacturers fitting guides all
agreed on. However, they appear to be 6" speakers which are must less easy
to come by here in the UK.

The front door speakers are on an angled metal bracket into which the
speaker is press-fitted. I've attempted to use MDF rings which have been
cut and sanded to match the original metal spacers but my first attempts
haven't been too successful. Trouble is that they are required, certainly
for my replacement speakers because of their depth, in order to clear the
window glass when in down position.

Haven't got around to doing the rear speakers yet . . . .

Good luck

Phil

Check out my website, in the image section I have pics of my stereo stuff, and pics of the front speakers how they are mounted and all that good stuff. I can tell you that 6 1/2 is a direct replacement for the rear decklid, those went in with no problems. The fronts as phil said required a little more finessing. I have probably one of the harder speakers to fit, the infinity kappa 63.i The tweeter section sticks out 1" and the back is fairly deep as well. The old 63i's I used plastic spacers and had to position just right, those were 1" deep spacers. The new ones (the old right one, the tweeter came off, infinity replaced free of charge) were tad deeper, I made custom ones out of a piece of plywood, it may not look the nicest, but it works damn well, and you can't see it anyway.

Here's my site address, www.personal.psu.edu/jcc189

got any questions, just holler.
