Wrong ECU ?

hello there,
Bought a '92 legacy wagon w/ manual tranny this summer. Previous
owner fried the ECU and couldnt find one from a legacy w/ man.
tranny. Since the first day i got it, i've experienced power problems
at low rpms when accelerating. Here is some details..
1. when idling, flooring it will cause the engine to accelerate
slowly 'til ~2k rpm then its okay.
2. Overall lack of power at low rpm, that means when starting from a
stop, starting on a hill..
3. "Newbie driver" feeling, like if i wasnt used to drive a stick.. I
mean by that the acceleration is not smooth.
I've put a layer of rubber between the engine and knock sensor so far
but havent reset my ECU yet.. i'll try this tommorow. But my biggest
concern is about this ECU that came from a legacy with an auto
tranny. I have the feeling this might cause some of the problems..
what does you guys think about it ? Before spending money to change
this and that, replacing with the right ecu cant be bad
Finally, I had a lot of difficulties to find a wagon with a stick.
Finding a ECU from a manual tranny is terribly hard to find here in
Québec, Canada. Does somebody have one that I could buy from ?
Thanks for your advices.
Martin
