i just read about a turbo timer that Greddy makes for $99. anybody
have one of these? are there any cheaper less flashy alternatives?
a timer for the car to shut off would be killer, that would mean no
more sitting in the car for 5 mins. waiting for everything to cool
down.

Five minutes?

I usually wait ~45 seconds, at most, before shutting down after i've
been into the boost a little, and longer if i've been on the highway
and just pulled off.

Greddy is expensive, but good stuff. I've never looked into Turbo
Timers, but i'm confident that you should be able to find something
between $50-75 that'll do the job.

Mike p: have you ever thought about a pyrometer? The sender is about $28
US(new) the gage is common at any Big truck recking yard for about $10
US. With this you know what temp your turbo is at all time Hope this

temperature my turbo is??? oh, ok i see what you're saying, what
temp it is so i know when to shut down yeah that might be a good
idea. what, incidentally would be the ideal temp for shut down, any
clues?

It measures the temperature of exhaust gasses, and the ideal
temperature at which to panic depends on the location of the temperature
probe. You want to put it before the turbo, generally.

Mine's post-turbo and I've got the panic light set to ~750 degrees C.
