There's only one other person in my group in today......I don't feel well.....and I want to go home.

Why can't I get paid for sleeping or something. That would suit my schedule a lot better.

One problem......it's in the Seattle area......worst of all it's in Kent......

I left the seattle area in 97, have come back a couple times, and remember why I left.......

no offense to those of you that like the area :)

Hehe, I was considering moving out there sometime . . .

What didn't you like about the area? I'd really like some of your feedback since everyone I've talked to loved it out there. *shrug*

Well......my number one complaint about there is the weather.

I for one am a warm weather baby......you can ask my mom...haha.

and it's not really that it get's cold, it's just always cloudy and dreery, and misty rain. Not tons of down poors. Just enough to piss on ya.....and make things wet.

For the most part, people get acustomed to it, and do stuff outdoors regardless of the weather. Me, I get depressed when I don't see the freakin sun for days on end.

Just my luck, that's the way it's been in Houston for the past month+ It's beginning to really piss me off.

Besides the weather, traffic is like any other big city. Each city has their own kinds of idiot drivers. Everyone is worse in one sort of fashion.......seattle drivers tend to be in no hurry, and poke around. That drives me nuts.....plus when it rains...(keep in mind it rains almost all the time) you can add 30+ min on to your commute every morning. Not to mention everyone from LA is moving up, and can't drive in the rain.

The area tends to be rather liberal, and extremist on environmental concerns. Which I'm all for saving the environment, but when the airport has been trying to build a 3rd runway for almost 5+ years now......and can't get past the legislation/public red tape.......same goes for the light rail thing. that was being proposed when i was going to high school......

The highway infrastructure and design is piss-poor at best. WADOT has their heads up their ass, as far as proposing highways/roads, etc. They've left themselves no room for expansion, and probably can't get through the red-tape to build elevated interstates, etc.

All that stuff and more aside. I like the area for what it has to offer though. You can live in one of the smaller cities and still be close to stuff to do, but not live in the thick of it. Plus I like the mtns. terrain changes.....it's not flat like south......

So it is a tossed bag.........

One of our fellow subaru enthusiast from the San Francisco is moving up there as I write this. He was out of work for a good while and the job he landed was up in Seattle. I don't think I could live with the weather either, but I've been spoiled most of my life living in the Bay Area. I was in Colorado for 5 years and it was nice, but a little too windy and dry as hell. Now I'm back and it's been unbelievable weather for the last few weeks. I don't see myself living anywhere else. Josh, why Texas?

Why texas......because that's where the job took me.

For the most part, until I find a spot I really like and don't want to move.....the job will probably be the driving factor in where I move.

Hell if they wanted to send me overseas for a couple years......I'd probably do that.

The northwest's economy is extremely depressed. I won't live in cali.....refuse to......was born there, but won't live in the high cost bs infested areas.

Don't think I would like the southwest......same sorta goes for the midwest....not too many tech oriented jobs.....sure there are some......but in a whole things aren't boomin. The east coast is a possibility again.....I didn't like the cold weather, but I could take it.

South.....it's aight......but not sure it's my cup of tea either. I don't know if I'll ever find a place I really like.

Hmmm, I might have to reconsider my options, as my opinions are similar to yours in terms of weather, traffic, and militant tree-huggers

The problem is that the cool places to live are obviously going to be crowded and traffic filled because they're cool. I grew up in the Bay Area, so the traffic and congestion don't seem that bad to me. The upside is that when the road are even semi-clear, everyone wants to charge. I love that everyone out here likes doing ~75 - 80 mph. Colorado sucked in that everyone wants to drive 60 mph in a 65, in ALL the lanes. My parents recently moved up to Healdsburg which is about an hour north of Oakland. It's kinda in the wine country and is really nice weather and congestion wise. The only problem is that there aren't many jobs up there for people like myself. It sure does make a nice place to visit though. Man, I sure am rambling today.

Hehe, I grew up and live in the DC metro area, where it takes me an hour and a half to two hours to get 20 miles around the Beltway!!

My mom thought seattle traffic is bad.......which it is.......but when she visited me down in Houston she was like holy shit......there's soo much more traffic........more roads.....more people....and for the most part, we drive fast.......like 70-80........or at least I do.....hahaha

I betcha the guy who hit you lives in the same apartment complex. I'd scour the area when everyone comes home . . . most likely parked on the other side of the building . . .

You have one of two choices:
1. Find the guy a figure out a way to prove he hit you . . . or my personal favorite . . .

2. baseball bat (to car and/or person)!

Yup, I woke up this morning with a nasty head cold . . . and I can't breathe through one nostril . . . sucks!!

Don't think I won't be looking for a car that matches the description of the paint left on her car. F*cking savages. The only hope that I have is that Kharma will get these people.

-Brian

Edit: It's my fiancee's '00 Impreza RS. In my anger, I forgot to mention that. If it was my car, I wouldn't be nearly as pissed as it's already got it's fair share of dings and scrapes.
