Weird behavior after washing

Dan, first thing I would do is check the codes and see what they are. If it's something that looks electrical related, could just be water in there, and you need to let it dry out. Go to my site, under notes & tips, I have instructions how to pull the codes from the ecu, and what they mean. www.personal.psu.edu/jcc189/subaru/subaru.html

good luck, lemme know if you have any other questions.

Subject: [BC-BFLegacyWorks] Wierd behavior after washing

It may have been a stupid thing to do, but I washed some parts of my
engine off with some engine degreaser and a hose. Not a powerful
spray at all though. Anyway here's what happened when I drove after
that.
First, the engine ran normally but the 'check engine' light was on
right away when I started it. I drove slowly (in town) for about 10
minutes (light still on) then I let it sit for about 15 minutes. I
started it up again and it drove normally and the check engine light
was on for a few seconds then it turned off. Then after about 5
minutes of driving it started to idle really high (1700rpm). After
about 5 minutes of that it began to idle normally. At that time I was
cruisin up main street about 2500rpm in 3rd gear (25-30mph maybe),
with light accelerator pressure, and the engine hesitated badly,
almost stalled. There was a funny smell at this time, almost like
when the radiator overheats, but the temp was normal. It did that a
couple times and then the check engine light came on again and I
drove home. Then I parked it, and haven't driven anywhere yet.

Is my car just insulted and being bitchy or could there really be
something majorly wrong? Is it just going through a wierd cycle of
drying out or something? Has anyone else experienced this after
washing the engine? If I check the error codes on the computer will
it tell me why the check engine light came on?

TIA,
Dan
