Whatever redline is. I know with an automatic, it's not possible to over rev the engine while driving. The transmission will shift automatically at redline. If car is in neutral or park you can rev freely. I really haven't seen if there is a rev limiter, there most likely is one in the ECU. I haven't really had the balls or wanted to sit there with my foot on the floor and see if I can blow my engine....hehe. 6500 RPM is plenty fast.

I know the newer legacies have a rev limiter and cut spark to keep from over revving. Which is what they do to speed limit the newer cars. I do know for a fact that the older legacies do not have a speed limiter, so they most likely do not have a rev limiter, at least of that kind.

I`ve found you run out of cam/upper end breathing around 6k rpm. I actually get better response by `short-shifting` at that point. Unless you make a cam/headwork changes, it`s probably futile to go any higher. My 3 cents...---ROD (AZ.)
