I've been thinking about a boost controller and was wondering if anyone has as electronic boost controller installed. I've heard about the APEXi and others but what has been a sucessful device to use?

I've used an AVC-R for over two years, though i still don't know very much about its specifics and all of the stuff it can do. It's been a worthwhile investment though.

I've got a ton of questions: like installation; did you install it yourself? is it a plug and play device? How about programming? is it straightforward enough to be done by yourself? Other mods to help? ie. fuel management, IC, exhaust, ... Ever had reliability issues?
thanks, Larry

I have the AVC-R for about 2 year also and I installed all by myself.
You have to make sure all the wire from your ecu pin out and you have to do some hose re-route for the installation!
The unit only control the boost, I also runs with the 93 WRX intercooler and I am now with BC5 engine so the boost is set around 16psi.
The unit is well design but you have to put lots of time to do the setting since it really hard to give it a good setting. You could do your setting while you are driving or ask someone to drive your car and you could do the setting!

I had it professionally installed and setup.
It's rather complicated, honestly, so if you're interested in it, i'd download the manuals from Apexi and look over them.

Hi Dave, could you post your set up on the AVC-R that I could have a try?

I'm not sure what you're looking for. Mine's probably out of tune since it was installed in an automatic and is now a 5MT.

That's fine Dave, some of us have (and plan to keep) the automatic that came with the car. It could prove useful in the future for some of us.

Don't worry Dave, shear your data on the AVC-R, I will post mine after I copy the setting tomorrow.
