hey guys,
I have a really big problem. Yesterday as i left work my car died on me. Figuring it was the battery (as i had just changed the alternator) i ran over to my dealership and picked up a new one. Dropped it in the car and headed back to the garage to get my buddy to check if the alternator was sending charge. Turns out their is a short somewhere and we couldn't seem to find it. What we started thinking was maybe it had something to do with the fact that the TCU was unplugged or the fact that i spliced the wires for the neutral switch. Anybody who pulled the switch from at/mt have any ideas????

I don't have any experience with the swap, but... Did you check both fuse boxes for blown fuses? Does the engine crank and not start, or does it not crank? If it doesn't crank, does the starter solenoid click before it doesn't crank? Do other electrical parts on the car work (headlights, stereo, reverse and brake lights)?

the car starts and runs no prob with the new battery, the main problem is no charge making it from the alternator to the battery. There is one weird thing however, and thats whenever i put on the left turn signal the lights cut.

Okay, hmm... There is no good reason that a transmission swap would result in no charging. How are you verifying that the alternator isn't charging the battery? If your battery isn't getting charged, that almost always means a problem with the alternator, unless the alternator isn't actually being spun by the crank.

The other thing, that's weird too. Do you mean that whenever the left turn signal is on, the headlights turn off? In some cars that can be a symptom of a bad ground, but our cars have switched ground, so maybe you've got a bad +12v connection, but then again that doesn't make much sense to me... All I can say is to check all the connections. Do you have a good wiring manual?
